Chamonix acquiert sa r\u00e9putation bien avant l\u2019apparition du ski. Depuis 1920, on y pratique le ski dans un des plus beaux domains skiable du monde.<\/p>\n<p>A Chamonix on trouve 4 grands domaines skiables. En hiver, le ski sous toutes ses formes est pratiqu\u00e9 dans la vall\u00e9e de Chamonix. Il existe de nombreuses pistes de ski alpin et de ski de fond. Le saut \u00e0 ski se pratique sur le tremplin du Gr\u00e9pon, proche du t\u00e9l\u00e9ph\u00e9rique de l\u2019Aiguille du Midi, et sur le tremplin du Mont aux Bossons. La commune dispose de 47 remont\u00e9es m\u00e9caniques et poss\u00e8de 182 km de pistes de ski.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Les Grands Montets (1235 m \u2013 3300 m)<\/strong><br \/>\nLes pistes r\u00e9parties sur trois versants (le glacier d\u2019Argenti\u00e8re, Lognan et la Pendant) offrent des choix de pistes nombreux et des hors-piste superbes. En ski ou en snow, vous pourrez glisser \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 d\u2019un glacier et profiter d\u2019un enneigement remarquable jusqu\u2019au mois de mai. Pour les amateurs de freestyle, un nouveau snowpark et un boardercross sont ouverts sur le domaine de Lognan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Domaine du Br\u00e9vent \/ Fl\u00e9g\u00e8re (1030 m \u2013 2525 m)<\/strong>Ces deux domaines sont reli\u00e9s par un t\u00e9l\u00e9ph\u00e9rique et constituent un site magnifique. Orient\u00e9 sud, il vous invite \u00e0 venir profiter de pistes vari\u00e9es face \u00e0 la cha\u00eene du mont-Blanc<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Domaine de Balme (1453 m \u2013 2270 m)<\/strong>Dans une ambiance d\u00e9tendue au d\u00e9part des villages du Tour et de Vallorcine, le Domaine de Balme offre un ski superbe sur deux versants. Sur le secteur de Charamillon, les larges pistes en douceur font face \u00e0 la vall\u00e9e de Chamonix, tandis que le secteur de Vallorcine permet un ski dans les sapins au seuil de la fronti\u00e8re Suisse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Domaine des Houches (950 m \u2013 1900 m)<\/strong>\u00a0offre un ski nature.En plein coeur de Chamonix, au pied du Br\u00e9vent, deux t\u00e9l\u00e9skis et un tapis roulant accueillent les d\u00e9butants et les enfants pour leurs premiers virages. Enneigement artificiel et jardin d\u2019enfant.<\/p>\n<h3>Un peu d\u2019histoire<\/h3>\n<p>A l\u2019\u00e9poque quaternaire, la vall\u00e9e est recouverte de glace, et ce n\u2019est que tr\u00e8s r\u00e9cemment que l\u2019homme p\u00e9n\u00e8tre dans ces lieux recul\u00e9s. Ligures, Ceutrons, Allobroges et Celtesse succ\u00e8dent dans la vall\u00e9e Apr\u00e8s avoir connu l\u2019influence des Romains, les habitants se partagent les terres cultiv\u00e9es avec les envahisseurs burgondes. En 1032, Chamonix, rattach\u00e9e \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve, est partie int\u00e9grante du Royaume de Bourgogne; mais c\u2019est en 1091 que d\u00e9bute son histoire lorsque le Monast\u00e8re de St Michel de la Cluse (Pi\u00e9mont) re\u00e7oit ce territoire du le Comte Aimon de Gen\u00e8ve.Le XIIe si\u00e8cle voit l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de moines \u00e0 Chamonix et la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019un prieur\u00e9. Pendant plusieurs si\u00e8cles, ils tenteront d\u2019administrer la vall\u00e9e, se heurtant souvent aux revendications des Chamoniards dont r\u00e9bellions sont fr\u00e9quentes.En 1741, arrivent les premiers touristes, Windham et Pocock. Chamonix est alors une vall\u00e9e ferm\u00e9e o\u00f9 les paysans cultivent une terre aride et froide. Leur r\u00e9cit enthousiaste pr\u00e9sente la Mer de Glace, et est publi\u00e9 dans diff\u00e9rents journaux litt\u00e9raires d\u2019Europe. A l\u2019\u00e9poque, les glaciers descendent encore tr\u00e8s bas, envahissant les parcelles de terre cultiv\u00e9e. Seuls, quelques chasseurs se risquent, avec prudence, dans ces lieux inhospitaliers.La curiosit\u00e9 de scientifiques, au cours des XVIIIe et XIXe si\u00e8cles ouvre une \u00e8re nouvelle pour la vall\u00e9e. En 1760, le naturaliste genevois Horace Benedict de Saussure vient en voyage \u00e0 Chamonix et monte au Br\u00e9vent d\u2019o\u00f9 il d\u00e9couvre le Mont-Blanc, qui n\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 gravi jusqu\u2019\u00e0 lors. Il promet une grosse r\u00e9compense au premier qui saura lui indiquer le \u00abchemin\u00bb pour y parvenir.<\/p>\n<p>Enfin le 8 ao\u00fbt 1786, Jacques Balmat et Michel-Gabriel Paccard foulent pour la premi\u00e8re fois le toit de l\u2019Europe.Egalement en 1786, c\u2019est la fin du Prieur\u00e9 pour les Chamoniards.<br \/>\nBient\u00f4t, de nombreuses personnalit\u00e9s, telles que Victor Hugo, George Sand, Moore, Albert 1er Roi des Belges\u2026font l\u2019ascension du Mont Blanc, et contribuent \u00e0 la diffusion de sa notori\u00e9t\u00e9.Pour conduire tous ces visiteurs sur la montagne, les montagnards proposent leurs services, se regroupant, d\u00e8s 1821 au sein de la Compagnie des Guides.<br \/>\nEn 1860, la Savoie devenue fran\u00e7aise re\u00e7oit la visite de l\u2019empereur Napol\u00e9on III. Au d\u00e9but du XXe si\u00e8cle, se construisent les premiers t\u00e9l\u00e9ph\u00e9riques, puis, petit \u00e0 petit, les diff\u00e9rentes remont\u00e9es m\u00e9caniques et en 1924, les premiers Jeux
